If you are new to adventure racing, you probably fall into one of two categories of thought, when it comes to the discipline of mountain biking:
Regardless into which category you fall, you will learn more than you realize from the two mountain biking instructors we have. The first part of the class, Mountain biking 101, will focus on selecting the right bike for you and your needs. The second part of the class, Mountain biking 102, will focus on a brief "hands-on" skills training. Mountain biking 101 will be taught by Tyler Simpson. Tyler is the owner and operator of Fitness & Adventure Sports in Whitehouse, Texas on Highway 110 South. For 25 years, he has been providing advice and gear for the adventure minded customers in the area. In addition to advice and retail, Tyler Simpson is also an avid mountain biker. He will not mind me sharing his age (it's actaully listed on his company website), but at 60 and with an artificial hip (also on his website), he can still throttle most people I know on a mountain bike -- self included. He has raced mountain bikes, since 1987 and has competed in more than 200 races. Tyler currently holds the title of First Runner-up Texas State Championship category one of 60+ racers. We are thrilled to have Tyler Simpson as one of our mountain biking instructors and hope you will sign up early, so you can benefit from this opportunity.
